The Roero Producers’ Consortium (Consorzio Tutela Roero) was acknowledged with a decree published in the Official Gazette on the 4th of March 2014.
The Roero Producers’ Consortium benefits from erga omnes and, despite the recent constitution, has a membership of more than 50% of wine growers with more then 70% of the Docg production.
To date there are more than 1,000 hectares of vineyards of Roero Denominazione (Designation), with a total number of bottles produced close to 6 million.
The Roero Docg is divided into two wines: Roero, a red wine based on nebbiolo grapes, and Roero Arneis, a white wine based on grapes of the same name.
With the election of President Francesco Monchiero, the Consortium was established to look after the interests related to the “Roero” Docg, acknowledged in 2005 and enrolled in the register of the denominazioni di origine protette (protected designations of origin) and of the indicazioni geografiche protette (protected geographical indications) of wines referred to in art. 104 of the (EU) Regulation no. 1308/2013.
